Gonda: The Gonda district administration has provided ₹8 lakh in relief assistance to the family of two minor sisters who died after drowning at Saryu Ghat in Bhouriganj village, under Karnailganj tehsil, on September 6.
The victims have been identified as Supriya, 15, and Suhani, 13, daughters of Arun Kumar Tiwari and residents of Rajapur (Baddu Purwa).

Following information about the tragic incident, the district administration immediately took cognisance of the matter and initiated necessary action. On the directions of the Gonda District Magistrate, concerned officials contacted the bereaved family and expedited the process for providing relief assistance permissible under government provisions.
Under the relief assistance scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government for families affected by disasters and accidents, a total of ₹8 lakh was released to the family of the two deceased girls. The administration said the financial assistance was provided within 24 hours of the incident to ensure immediate support to the bereaved family.

The district administration expressed deep condolences to the family and said that, in accordance with the state government’s policy, providing admissible relief assistance to families affected by disasters or accidents in a timely and transparent manner remains a priority.
Officials concerned completed the relief process on the directions of the District Magistrate and ensured that the eligible assistance reached the family without delay.
The administration has also appealed to residents to exercise extreme caution around rivers and riverbanks and urged parents and guardians not to allow children to go near rivers, ghats or other water bodies unattended.
